Avast me hearties! It looks like them Somolian Pirates be at it once again.
This time they got themselves a big fish - a Saudi Aribian-owned 319,000 ton oil tanker loaded down with 2 million barrels of oil. Ransom for the ships release of the ship, and hopefully crew, is set at 25 million dollars with a 10 day limit for the Saudis to accept or something bad will happen.
The Russians and US have stepped up their push for more enforcement in the area and there is now talk of a possible ground invasion as well.
For now many ships appear to be avoiding the general area where the pirates are known to operate but as with this last ship capture, they will no doubt just change their tactics, using the element of surprise. It will be interesting to see what happens now that the whole world has their eye on this issue.
